| When I listened to the news he reported I did not wonder if it was true. When I saw he believed in the Interfaith Alliance, I believed in it too. - Mary Lulucki |
| I was one who trusted what Walter said. I’m sorry no one seems able to take his place. - Jeanette R. Duckworth |
| Mr. Gaddy- you and Mr. Cronkite and many men of your generation fit the wonderful adjectives you wrote in the first paragraph for Walter. Separation of church and state must prevail it will. His legacy lives on. - Nadine Thurber |
| When I grew up the news was factual. Walter never once steered the facts, he let the facts stand on their own. Because of him I studied journalism. I never entered that profession but I still love a good news story because of him. Just the facts! - Carol Knapp |
| Some of my best memories are of the CBS Evening News with Walter Cronkite. He projected true honor an integrity in his voice and demeanor. He always rose above the spin and never betrayed his calling as an informative journalist. That we will have another like him soon seems unlikely. His shoes will be very hard to fill. Walter, bon voyage. - C c |
| Mr. Walter Cronkite is a beautiful spirit. While amongst us on spaceship Earth he graced us ever so true and ever so humble with his deep rooted wisdom, his quiet peacefulness, and an his utmost respect to both truth and to each and all during our collective happy and sad times.
“Walter, thank you for your sublime leadership and profound presence. You inspired the goodness of our human nature.”
- Chris Robinson |
| Thank you Walter, for being someone whom we could unconditionally trust for truth and integrity. - patrick keough |
| What can I say to express my appreciation for the huge impact Mr. Cronkite had on the world, on my formative years and on the golden days when news really was news? Unfortunately, his calibre will never pass this way again. And that's the way it is....truly. - Mali Dahl |
| God bless Mr.Cronkite and keep him in the palm of His Hand. I am grateful for his honest reporting and the compassion in which he delivered bad news. He was there with you, everything would be alright. The good news was a joy because you could see the twinkle in his eye and again he was with you. Truly with you, I miss that very much. - Georgette Tara to |
| I pray journalists recognize their profound responsibility to report information based on facts, not beliefs, and for the purpose of informing and educating, not for spreading propaganda. The word truly is more powerful than the sword, and thus I pray the journalists who have an audience will, like Mr. Cronkite, use that power with integrity and wisdom. - Dana Parker |
| I spent that long weekend in November 1963 with Walter, and stayed with him for years after. One day he sent me an email telling me of his support for a new (to me) organization called the Interfaith Alliance. I was not then a regular observer of faith, but I joined right away. Thank you, Walter, for introducing me to Welton. - Bruce Westcott |
| The quality that I will always remember about Walter Cronkite is his incredible humility. I was honored to play tennis with him for a week in Hawaii. Upon leaving the court one time, a newlywed couple came up to him and asked if he would take a photo. Walter showed no surprise when they handed him the camera to take a photo of them! It was only after he took the photo that they recognized him. They said "Hey, you look like Walter Cronkite". He just laughed and said, "Yeah, what's left of him." This sense of humility and warmth toward everyone he met to me is the greatest attribute of a truly exceptional human being. - Ted Murray |
| I loved Walter Cronkite as a father. He got us through some of the most exciting and challenging times of the last century. He was a journalist. What do we call the people on television now? I hope we can turn around the biased so-called "faux news" if you catch my drift. God Bless Walter Cronkite and let his legacy of integrity in journalism live on! - Jackie Thrasher |
| I was deeply saddened by the death of Walter Cronkite. He was a strong and active supporter of Interfaith Alliance and an encouragement to us to continue this important work. We were so fortunate to have him as honorary Chair of the Board and our inspiration. As a Board member, I felt a personal connection to him. He will be missed, but his spirit lives on in Interfaith Alliance and its mission. - Maureen McCormack |
| Mr. Cronkite's commitment to the interfaih movement inspired and strengthened my own work as an activist and scholar in this area. - Benjamin Hubbard |
| With the passing of Walter Cronkite, we have lost a national icon. He was a man of high ideals who believed that Americans deserved the truth in reporting. He was one of those rare reporters who put the story first and himself second, a rare event today. We have lost the historical connection to a different era, as well as to the professionalism of those first television reporters. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family in this very difficult time. - Emily Hayden |
| Both the United States and indeed, the world has lost one of our most amazing human beings. I grew up with Uncle Walt. He made some sense of all the confusing events of those times. In my parents' home, we listened to him whenever church and school activities permitted. We trusted him to share the truth of all events, including JFK's murder, Watergate as so many others have commented. When he spoke the words regarding the horror of the Vietnam war, the nation FINALLY heard. In my humble opinion, Walter Cronkite listened closely God to create a better world. Thanks to all his family and closest friends for sharing him so generously with the rest of us. Godspeed!

| I grew up listening to Walter Cronkite ..and that's the way it was..
Maybe watching Walter in the early inspired myself to go into broadcasting at a young age. Walter was a good man and a great broadcaster. - Larry Best |
| I am deeply saddened by the death of Walter Cronkite. My sympathy to his family. Walter deivered the news to us by way of looking you in the eye and sometimes with much grief ie President Kennedy. I miss his type of news. I abhor the cable tabloid that Is today. Thank you for your devotion to IA. Sincerely,

| I vividly remember Walter's opening words on his evening newscast, following the Kent State University killings. He said, "The war has come home; we are killing our children". I was touched to tears.Born in Vienna Austria, I listened to him for decades on New Year's Day as commentator of Vienna Symphony Orchestra's performance with great joy. I was happy to see that he was made an honorary citizen of Vienna. - Rev. Rudolf Gelsey |
| Well... I (we) grew up with Walter Cronkite and his reporting of the world news (50's - 70's). I think this is why I, as a middle-aged Boomer, am so demanding of quality journalism, which is utterly, painfully lacking in television media. I remember all the significant world events and the commentary during my younger years; they've been indelibly impressed into my memory. We were blessed to have Walter Cronkite when we did, and for his willingness to hold the standard high. He set the bar, he was the paragon of integrity, and we trusted him for his objectivity and reporting of the truth, without which we would have never survived such a turbulent era. - Rev. J. Richard Fowler |
| DURING SOME RATHER BLEAK DAYS WALTER AND ERIC SEVAREID REPRESENTED TO ME THE VERY ESSENCE OF GREAT JOURNALISM AND RATIONAL ANALYSIS. I NEVER MET MR. KRONKITE YET IN A LONG LIFE I'VE COME TO THINK OF HIM AS A 'friend'- HE WILL BE MISSED. - harold j. ehrentreu |
| You always made me feel safe....even when you were telling me bad news. You will be missed by the entire world.
Smooth sailing Uncle Walter.

| Thank you for your great journalism and for your efforts to preserve our democracy from the threat of the religious right. RIP Walter Cronkite! - Katopodis Harry |
| Throughout history there are wise, compassionate, men and women who give their lives for justice and peace. With integrity, loyalty, and a brillian mind and dedicated heart, Walter Cronkite devoted his professional and personal life answer the call of service to the human race, Americans, those in need and treated unjustly. His signitures are truth, peace, dedication, integrity, service. How blessed we have been to be served by Walter Cronkite. May his life inspire others to the same high calling. - Nancy Willett |
| He was such a great journalist that I never doubted what he reported. How many out there today can we really say the same about? A handful would be my guess!
- Kathie Lagerblad |
| Very nice. "We have an anchor that frees the soul..." is how one famous Christian church hymn goes. You know, that's how I see all of our Anchor-people who do the news. It takes alot of faith, love, and determination of intrepid holy spirit. These people are empowered in the Spirit of Christ...and yes, we owe them all so much for DARING to "be strong in the Lord & in the power of His might."
Walter was a favorite of my biological paternal grandparents, Mr. & Mrs. Albert & Mildred Yale of Athens, Pennsylvania. They were very fond of him, his intelligence & his commitment to democracy & justice. And I am thankful that they taught me to "think" & am also thankful for all of you at Interfaith Alliance & Faith in America...for knowing how to truly think; and know what real balance is. Thank you for this tribute & the opportunity to share.

| Since I was born in 1939, and have spent most of my life in New York State, I knew Walter Cronkite mostly by his voice and image on radio and TV. But since I first knew of him, I was comforted and strengthened by HIS strength and lack of variation. I was once honored to be in the same room with him when he was interviewed in Washington, D.C. by Dennis Kucinich concerning the Department of Peace. - David Hoag |
| Prior to reading the tribute, I really didn't know much about Walter Cronkite, the man. What strikes me most, is that he really walked his talk. His private life was private, he lived his life with dignity, and he earned the respect that he is being given. Its too bad our elected officials and other role models don't display the same integrity that he did. Maybe they should take a page out of his book! RIP Walter! - Allie Pace |
