Who We Are

Interfaith Alliance is a network of people of diverse faiths and beliefs from across the country working together to build a resilient democracy and fulfill America’s promise of religious freedom and civil rights not just for some, but for all.

We mobilize powerful coalitions to challenge Christian nationalism and religious extremism, while fostering a better understanding of the healthy boundaries between religion and government. We advocate at all levels of government for an equitable and just America where the freedoms of belief and religious practice are protected, and where all persons are treated with dignity and have the opportunity to thrive.

What We Do

Advocate: We’re holding government officials accountable at every level, demanding an America where the freedom to believe and practice religion is protected for all.

Mobilize: We’re mobilizing a diverse, nationwide network of advocates, clergy, lay people, activists, and organizations to challenge the rise of religious extremism.

Educate: We’re equipping political leaders, religious communities, and everyday Americans with the tools and knowledge they need to push back against the erosion of true religious freedom and equality.

Forge: We’re building powerful coalitions across the country to confront these threats head on, ensuring America’s promise of religious freedom and civil rights isn’t just for the few - it’s for everyone.

Celebrating 30 Years

Interfaith Alliance was created in 1994 to celebrate religious freedom and to challenge the bigotry and hatred arising from religious and political extremism infiltrating American politics. Over the years, we’ve worked tirelessly to defend the values that define this nation—values of inclusion, dignity, and the protection of each individual’s right to believe as they choose.

As we celebrated our 30th anniversary in 2024, we took a moment to reflect on the incredible work we’ve done, the partnerships we’ve built, and the progress we’ve achieved.

Jesus Christ’s Kingship: Religious Freedom or Religious Imposition?

In North Dakota’s Sixty-ninth Legislative Assembly, House Concurrent Resolution 3020, introduced by Representatives Rios, Christianson, Henderson, Holle, Hoverson, Morton, Nehring, VanWinkle, K. Anderson, J. Johnson, and Senators Walen and Weston, has ignited a considerable debate about infringement on religious freedom. At the heart of this controversy is a proposal to acknowledge Jesus Christ’s Kingship to redeem society. However, clergy, interfaith communities, and community members warn that this measure threatens religious freedom and moves toward government endorsement of Christianity.
