CNN: Rev. Paul Brandeis Raushenbush Responds to Trump's Religious Liberty Commission
Watch HereThe Vote is Sacred Tour is off and running! We launched the tour on Monday at the Tri-Faith Initiative in Omaha, Nebraska. It was the perfect launching pad for the tour because Tri-Faith brings together a mosque, synagogue, church, and interfaith center on one campus.
We heard from diverse religious leaders in the community: Rev. Sarah Rentzel Jones of Countryside Community Church, Rabbi Deana Sussman Berezin of Temple Israel, Rev. Debra McKnight of Urban Abbey United Methodist Church, Karim Khayati of the American Muslim Institute (AMI). Rick MacInnes, chair of the Tri-Faith Board, and Bob Freeman, a co-founder of Tri-Faith, also spoke.
Interfaith Alliance President and CEO Rev. Paul Brandeis Raushenbush delivered a powerful call to action to protect democracy and rallied diverse faith communities to turn out in this critical location in the 2024 election.
You can watch an in-depth report on the tour kickoff by the local ABC News affiliate:
Last week, Interfaith Alliance signed two important letters demonstrating our commitment to opposing all political violence and supporting free speech. In the wake of the unacceptable murder of conservative activist Charlie Kirk, the Trump administration has announced a crackdown on progressive nonprofits and philanthropic institutions. To protect movements working across diverse issue areas and communities, we reiterate our commitment to working nonviolently and supporting the First Amendment right of organizations to speak out and advocate for the civil rights of all communities.
As one of the organizational co-chairs of Faithful Democracy, Interfaith Alliance led a powerful letter to Congressional leadership this Tuesday—joined by over 130 faith-based organizations—expressing alarm at the federal takeover of D.C.'s police and calling for Congressional support to protect the District’s autonomy and advance statehood.
