Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) cruelty is threatening our religious calling to love our neighbors — in our houses of worship and in our communities. This cruelty is part of a larger effort to deceive Americans about the trustworthiness of election systems, disrupt the operation of those systems, and use the ensuing chaos to deny unfavorable election outcomes. The federal government has created conditions for voter intimidation through its deployment of federal law enforcement and rhetoric about deploying ICE agents at or near polling locations. Further, ICE has crushed peaceful dissent and assembly by using and threatening violence.
As faithful Americans, and as an expression of our values, we demand that the federal government stop the attacks on our neighbors and we call on our political and religious leaders to stand in solidarity against their cruelty.
Choose Love, Not ICE (CLNI) is a national, faith-rooted organizing campaign led by Interfaith Alliance and Protect Democracy to confront cruelty carried out by ICE in and around our communities — especially when enforcement violates the moral commitments of faith traditions and the constitutional promise of religious freedom. The campaign centers love of neighbor, moral courage, and nonviolent action. It is designed to create visible, values-based defections from policies and practices that harm immigrant communities, while building long-term interfaith power for democracy.
